Stories about Zac and our first 9 years...

To start with Zachary was born in St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington. He was 7 lbs 5 oz and 21 inches long. He was born at 3:39 pm Pacific Time.

Here is the church building that Zac was blessed in when we were in Olympia 1st Ward.

When Jeff and I moved to Olympia we chose an apartment right by the office that I was working at until I was 7 months along and we knew our 1 bedroom apartment would be too small for the 3 of us.

So we found a nice apartment just down the street from both Dave & Kathy and the hospital. This served us well until Zac hit the almost walking stage. We were upstairs. It was nice. This is were Zac fell against the coffee table and his new tooth cut through his lip. We put the table away as we didn't want to take any other chances. He still has that scar. :o)

Then it was too small so we moved into this quaint house(of course with stairs) over in Lacey when Zac was 9 months. We were in this rental until the family who owned it needed it for their mother-in-law. Here is where Zac learned to walk. He also learned to climb the stairs both up and down. He had his first birthday here and Christmas too. He loved to play baseball by hitting a ball of the top of the paper towel holder. This is where he cut his eye brow open running around the corner while I was bringing a chair around to the living room. This is were we lived when the earthquake hit. All of the boxed foods and videos fell off the shelf in the storage room, the computer monitor was moments away from falling to the floor along with hard drives. My breakables all fell to the couch and only broke 1 or 2 items. The garage was a mess. All the solvents fell to the floor and the amonia opened up and spilled everywhere. Jeff and Zac had just left the house minutes before the earthquake hit and they were on the road when it hit. They wondered why the road was bumpy and when they got to the first street light and saw it swinging they figured it out. Well Jeff got over to his parents house where they had no damage and figured that our house was in good shape which unfortunately it wasn't. Here they had people that took care of the front yards for you. There was a community swing set right beside our house. I still remember taking him out and swinging with him on the swings looking up at the sky. It was so peaceful!

So we moved to another rental home there in Lacey and only put 17 miles on the moving van when Zac was 2 1/2 years old. This was our first home purchase.
Here we had a trampoline where we loved to lay out at night and watch the stars and watch for satellites. We loved playing and working in our yard. the bushes were always trimmed up nice and the grass was really green. It took a lot of work to get all of the weeds out of the front lawn. I had no such ambition for the back yard. This is where Zac had his first herb garden. He grew spearamint, pepermint, lemon balm and rosemary. We had a huge front living room and it and the kitchen were one great room. Zac loved Thomas the train and would build one great big train station and used his wood blocks to create a whole entire village. He would have hours of fun. He loved to race his hot wheels across the floor. We would spend evenings going to Barnes and Nobel and every once and a while Zac would want another train piece. We have a good collection going with Thomas and all of his friends now! I loved this house as the kitchen was so big and it had lots and lots of cupboards.

That is until we decided to move to Colorado with State Farm. So Zac now age 3 3/4 was helping us move all our stuff. He sure is a good helper.

Here we are in Colorado. We were the 2nd house on the block to be built and the first house had boys about Zac's age. They have grown up together and have a lot of fun too. They go to each other's birthday party's, they play in the afternoons after school and in the summer when it is not too hot outside.

I tried Zac in preschool and he was bored so we took him out and kept him home. I thought that he would enjoy the play time with other kids since we had just moved here. No he had more fun at home helping his dad and Papa build the basement studio. He did a great job filling the holes after the sheetrock was put up too.

Then Zac started Kindergarten. He went in the afternoons and loved it. Jeff would take him and pick him up every day. We did this for 1st and 2nd grade too. In 3rd he finally started to ride the bus, but Jeff still takes him in the mornings and with all the after school activities he will pick him up in the afternoon too. It was a hard adjustment for Jeff to not pick him up and let him ride the bus sometimes as he loves that time with Zac. He is not about to give up the morning drop off yet. Jeff said it will be too soon that Zac will not want to have mom or dad taking him to school and he wants to enjoy this time as long as he can.
