Gone fishing...

We went to RMNP with Dave & Kathy and Dave's sister Sue and her husband Hal.

Jeff, Zac, Papa and Hal went fishing in RMNP as you can see they caught a lot of fish.

Can't see them. That's because there were no fish caught. But the boys sure did have fun!

First day of 4th Grade

I can't believe that school is back in session. The summer went by so very fast. Here Zac is sporting a new school outfit. He is also getting tall. Now he comes up to my chin. It won't be long before he passes me up! What's happing to my little boy???

Before we went miniature golfing Zac mowed Papa's lawn for him. Zac loves to earn money.


We went miniature golfing everyone had fun. Of course Jeff came in first place and I was in last place. Not a big surprise there. I just like going and having fun!

Last days of Summer Vacation....

Yesterday we took Zac to go see the movie Kit Kittridge All American Girl. It was a great show. I would love to see more movies like this come out. Then we had our end of summer pool party. It was fun. The Harden Familly came and Zac's friends Chase and Holden's Family. The kids spent most of the 2 hours in the Lazy River. It was fun. I forgot my camera so this will have to do. Here is a picture of the pool fun area.

Today we took Zac to the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research promotes partnership in a collaborative community dedicated to understanding the atmosphere—the air around us—and the interconnected processes that make up the Earth system, from the ocean floor to the Sun's core. It was very interesting.

Then we tried to go to NOAA which is National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NIST which is National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The U. S. Department of Commerce Boulder Labs are scientific laboratories including NIST, NOAA and NTIA. Clustered on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder Colorado, these labs are the home of scientific research and engineering in the fields of electromagnetics, materials reliability. optoelectronics, quantum electronics and physics, time and frequency, earth systems, weather and telcommunication.

Although many people don't realize it, the NIST Boulder Laboratories make possible many technologies that are commonplace in everyday life. Just a few examples include:

Time: Watches, computer clocks, and other timekeeping devices are often linked to the world’s most accurate atomic clock at the NIST Boulder Laboratories. NIST official time is disseminated to such devices several billion times each day, and is used to time-stamp hundreds of billions of dollars worth of financial transactions conducted every business day. NIST Boulder precision time standards also underpin telecommunications systems, GPS positioning and navigation, electric power distribution, and TV and radio broadcasts.

Lasers: The performance of lasers used for everything from surgery to DVD players to making computer chips is assured by NIST Boulder measurements and standards.

Materials: From the atomic scale to the largest man-made structures, materials research and measurements at NIST Boulder help computer chips, medical devices, pipelines, and bridges work better and more reliably.

To take a tour of NOAA and NIST you have to go online and register and then when you get to the visitor center check in and go through security before you can go on a tour. It has very high security. So the next time Zac has a day off of school on a Tuesday we will have to plan to go on this tour. They told us the tour lasts about 2 hours.

Tomorrow we will spend the day with Jeff's parents and get Zac to bed early with school starting on Thursday. I can't believe that that summer has gone by so fast.

When we lived in Washington they had a great kids program. We were able to put Zac in soccer, basketball and gymnastics classes. They focused on teaching the basics of the sport. Zac had a lot of fun. Zac is in the front middle. :o)

Blogging...

I love to read my friends blogs. I was just on KaeLynn & Jason Earl's blog and she was talking about her son Zac and the mess he made in the bathroom with the bubbles. "but you have to obey me. Heavenly Father sent you to me. To teach and train you to be a good person. It is a job I don't take lightly. Although some days it feels like I am not on your team..I promise I am. I love you little buddy. Let's try it again tomorrow."

It is so true and I feel the same way. That we are here to teach and train these young people to make good decisions. I love it when I can be my son's best friend, but I know that it is more important to be his mother first and foremost and his friend second. I love the gospel and the plan of salvation that we can be a family together forever.

I am hoping to spend this Monday with Zac and we have organized our 2nd annual end of summer pool party. It should be a lot of fun. Then Wednesday we will have a last play day with Dave & Kathy to finish the summer break off with. They wanted him to have a sleep over Wednesday night but he starts school on Thursday. So we will have to plan this for another day.

When my mom was here she showed me how she had all of her pictures set up on a program called Picasa. So I knew that my organizing of pictures needed some help and have loaded all of the digital pictures that I have into iPhoto. So I am going to post some pictures of Zac as a little boy. I can't believe how fast time flies when we are raising our children.

Monday when we got to our campsite we set up had dinner and went for a hike up to Bear, Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lakes. Then we returned to camp and had apple pies and rosted marshmellows. Here Zac is playing in the water.

Tuesday we had dutch oven breakfast and went for a walk around Sprague Lake. Then not long after we got back we quickly put all the food in the tent so we could eat lunch. It proceeded to storm outside and the thunder and lightening were right beside us. It even hailed for a few minutes. So when it stopped we had a few big puddles and created paths for them to drain off too. Then we prepared for dinner as the White's joined us with their grandson Max. Zac and Max had a great time together.

Tuesday morning Mom and I went for a walk around Sprague Lake while Jeff and Zac tried their hand at fishing.
Mom & Zac...We were stuck in the tent for about an hour while it rained outside. So here are some pictures from our time together.
