Zac and Micah came for a visit this summer and we took them and went to Kentucky to see what it is all about.
First day they were here we played some pool, went mini golfing had dinner and went back to do the go carts.
We grabbed dinner at Umi Japanese where we had some fabulous food.
Then we were off to Bowling Green and Mammoth Caves Park the next day.
We spent the day going to the Corvette Museum, Bowling Green Fountain Park, and then Mammoth Caves for a cave tour. Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky had a lot of fun cars. You can see them through the years.
The day brought a twist to it as our breaks went out. We went to the Hyundai in Bowling Green dropped off our car and went down the street to Hertz where we were able to pick up a rental and continue on to the Caves for our tour. It took a day to get the breaks replaced and so we went to Louisville and then back to Bowling Green before continuing on to Lexington. So a few extra hours on the road but we were safe which is what mattered the most.
This is Mammoth Cave where we went on a two hour hike through one of the many cave tours they offer. We had such a great time and look forward to going on many more.
Next day was Louisville where we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum. Then we went to a great BBQ lunch. Then over to Churchill Downs to check out their store.
Zac hitting balls in the batting cages.
The life cycle of a baseball bat.
Bats being carved by CNC machines.
Lots of bats ready for the next step in the process.
The bats are dipped in a special lacquer and then left to drip.
These are dripped in a black lacquer.
These are getting the logo stamped on them.
Jeff in the batting cages.
We had some excellent BBQ at Guy Fieri's Smokehouse on 4th Street in downtown Louisville.
We then stopped at the Churchill Downs store and tried on the hats.
Oh what a fun day we had.
The next day we went to Lexington and on to the Kentucky Horse Park.
Here we have Accelerate who won the 2018 Breeders Cup Classic and the Eclipse Award Winner. He won in his lifetime 3,390,000 in the Breeders' Cup Earnings. He is such a pretty horse.
Next we have Marion Maraurder who was a 2016 Triple Crown Winner 3.39 million.in earnings. He achieved a mark of 1:50.2 at the age of seven. He is another beautiful horse.
Next we went to the Parade of Breeds show where they had six horses come out and they shared what the history of the horse's heritage is and how they contributed at the time period in their life culture.

Then we took off to the Underground Cave Tour.
Then we are off to Gatlinburg Tennessee. The next morning Jeff and Zac were taking the luggage to the car and came across these two bears. It was so fun to see these black bears.
We drove up into the Smokey Mountains for a few minutes to give them an idea of its beauty.
Then we went to Pigeon Forge to ride a mountain coaster and play some mini-golf.
It was so hard to let them go back to Utah but we played every minute they were here.
On our way home we saw this car go by with with skeletons as passengers. It was hilarious.
